The ferry journey

Ahh, the sea air…. Certainly better than
In January 2006 four friends and I travelled to the Isle of Bute in the Firth of Clyde in search of a traditional sporting event. We never found it... but Bute did turn out to be an interesting place. This blog recounts the events of that day and is also a request for more information about the culture, traditions and events on the island. Please leave your comments. Please note that the blog runs from bottom to top

Yes, people regularly commute to Glasgow from the Island and unfortunately, there is no particular discount for residents of Bute, other than the option to buy 10 journey tickets which reduces the price coz you're buying in bulk - this option is open to anyone though and not just residents. Those over retirement age (60 or 65?) get free travel but not for their vehicles, where the same options apply as for everyone else. There is some availability to park your car on the mainland and this is certaily advantageous, however possibly limited. I travel to Bute every weekend as having moved from London, you're right - you can't beat the fresh air!
